Lionel Messi is officially out of contract and no news about his possible future, but few believe that he will move on and not be part of FC Barcelona next season.

He had a fantastic Copa America winning the tournament with Argentina and with his friend Sergio Aguero newly moved to Barca, we would be surprised to see Messi not reporting in for next season.

There were talks about him staying on and reach an agreement with a half as much in salary in a new contract, but that is not confirmed with Barca eager to get their wage bill down to a level that makes it possible to live on as a club and invest in future development.

If Messi decides to move on with Man City and PSG as the only clubs mentioned in a possible switch it will be a massive blow for Barca as they see still a future with a player that looks better and hungry and especially being part of Argentina’s winning team must be exciting to join up again with Barca for future play.

Former England and Lazio manager Svennis believed it would be impossible to see Messi in nothing else than a Barca kit, so hopefully the Swede knows what counts and that a move elsewhere looks as much unlikely for the player himself. The question asked might be how much Barca is willing to pay to secure yet another two to three year deal and if that is only half of what has been paid before, Messi himself might consider those two other clubs mentioned as they could be willing to equal the current contract.
