Philippe Coutinho was back in the squad for the first time since 20th of December against Eibar. He never appeared in the game played at Estadi Johan Cruyff. The game ended in a 3-0 win for Barcelona against a Juventus team that could have won against anyone.
Sergio Aguero and Clement Lenglet both missed the game with injuries and are both uncertain for the La Liga opener v. Real Sociedad next Sunday, but Ronald Koeman lined up a strong team as everyone could see sweeping Juve of the floor with this 3-0 win, goals coming from Depay, Braithwaite and Puig.
The result shows a picture of a club that must be able to win games, trophies and also move on from the Lionel Messi situation, accepting that the player surely will not return with PSG lining up a move for him. He will rejoin his former teammate and friend Neymar and hopefully get the best out of his new life in another club.Embed from Getty Images
The Gamper Festival is a traditional game before the season starts when a major team of Europe has been invited to play and the prestige is huge though it’s seen as a friendly. It’s been a yearly tradition since 1966 and been played at Camp Neu, but this year it was played at the training facilities.
For those who don’t know the tradition and the name Joan Gamper, he was a co founder of the club and a president and an important person in the history of FC Barcelona.
Of course a grand work out session for the Barcelona team as they took on Juventus in of course a 3-0 win is a big contrast to the 1-2 loss in the previous game v. Salzburg. Of course a lot of quality still left at Barca when a player like Philippe Coutinho is an unused sub.Embed from Getty Images
